Puiforcat Gilt Tureen & Tray with Aventurine

- Twelve-sided silver gilt soup tureen on a base decorated in step-motif. The handles are in aventurine. In original case. Both sides of the tureen and the tray are engraved with the coat of arms of Earl Alexander of Tunis. The earldom was created for Harold Alexander after his years of service to the crown, including serving as a Field Marshall, Governor General of Canada, and Minister of Defense in the British government. Tureen marked “Puiforcat Paris”; circa 1960. Tray marked “Jean Puiforcat Paris”; circa 1930. Both sterling silver gilt.
